Make Everyone Winners
Our
biggest problem here at CCCC
is letting everyone in the greater Houston area know about the services we
offer. Many, many people have told us that they just didn’t know that there
was a computer company like ours that enjoys helping people in your home or
office. We want to make it worth your while to let other people know about us. Computer viruses have been around for years. But there’s a new one out there that’s not playing by the same rules. This new virus makes it even more important that you keep your anti-virus programs up-to-date. W32.Klez.gen@mm is a mass-mailing worm that searches the Windows address book for email addresses and sends messages to all recipients that it finds. A “worm” is a virus that automatically e-mails itself to other computer users. You don’t have to open the attachment to get infected; the worm will attempt to execute itself when you open or even preview the message. Some variants of this worm use a technique known as "spoofing." If so, the worm randomly selects an address that it finds on an infected computer. It uses this address as the "From" address that it uses when it performs its mass-mailing routine. Numerous cases have been reported in which users of uninfected computers received complaints that they sent an infected message to someone else. So make sure you are using a current version of an anti-virus program such as Norton AntiVirus, that you have downloaded the most recent virus definitions, and that the full system scan is set to scan all files. Please call us if you have any questions. Now for something completely different. HoustonPBS (Channel 8 – KUHT) shows what happens when kids and inspiration meet technology and competition. The HoustonPBS production Wit, Grit and Robot Games follows the exploits of three different high school teams enrolled in the 2001 FIRST Robotics Competition. Marking the 10th anniversary of the founding of the FIRST Robotics Competition, this documentary focuses on the dynamics of teambuilding through the various activities involved in robot design, construction, and competition. What makes this TV show unique is that our son, Brian Clerc, did the filming for B. T. Washington High School, one of these three teams. He also helped with the editing last summer at the University of Houston, and he is listed on the credits. Wit, Grit and Robot Games will be shown on HoustonPBS on May 21st from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. It will also be shown on May 22nd at 1:00 p.m. and on May 23rd at 2:00 a.m. So set your VCRs and enjoy some great work by our high school students (and some great filming by Brian.) |
